Louisiana Gold Variety LFRQ-4
Composite image
Two examples are known for this mule. Both emerged from the
Abe Kosoff estate. They were offered as part of lot 4251
of a November 1985 Bowers and Merena auction. The lot was purchased by noted small diameter private gold
collector
Jay Roe. Roe later sold one of the two pieces to Dave Morice.
Morice wrote an article about LFRQ-4 for the October 1989 issue of the journal for the
Token and Medal Society,
The 'Missouri Mule' Gold Piece and Other Little Mysteries.
This extremely rare variety is also discussed in the
Summer 1997 issue
of The Brasher Bulletin, journal for the Society of Private and Pioneer Numismatics.
